Get Involved – Cleanup and Restoration Activities

In September 2010, EPA released a final removal Action Memorandum which describes the approved process for T-117 cleanup. The cleanup will remove all contaminated upland soil and river sediment that exceeds the PCB cleanup level, and then backfill with clean material. No sediment will be left behind that exceeds the PCB cleanup level. The selected method of cleanup achieves the objective to rehabilitate a healthy environment for all who use and enjoy the Lower Duwamish.

Six years later, the City and Port have both completed their cleanup and construction activities at the T-117 site! The Port is committed to pursuing a restoration project at T-117, and you can learn more about those developing plans on their website at http://www.portseattle.org/Environmental/Site-Clean-Up/Pages/Terminal-117.aspx.

Please continue to contact us if you have questions or comments for the City, Port or EPA regarding the cleanup at T-117.
